FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- T.J.Maxx understands that women today are saying goodbye to fitting a mold and instead focusing on what matters most to them on their own terms. In fact, in a survey conducted by T.J.Maxx, 58 percent of women, ages 20 – 65 reported they make time for the things that matter most every day, which includes spending time with loved ones and family (56%), "me time" – or quiet time alone (20%), and fitness (11%). And it pays off when they do, with 93 percent reporting a positive result, including feeling happy, balanced and relaxed.
"When I work with women I get them to think about their 'me' moment – that thing amid all the daily chaos that makes them truly happy. These moments trigger the part of our brain that releases serotonin and makes us feel happier and positive," said Christine Hassler, Life Coach and Author. "It's important to make time for meaningful moments, which can be as simple as a five-minute tea break using your favorite mug or 10 minutes enjoying breakfast on the couch with your kids."
Making it work on your terms
From fashion to fitness to motherhood, T.J.Maxx knows there is no one size fits all when it comes to how women approach what matters most to them. While the survey found that 58 percent of women frequently feel like they have to "fit a mold," when they put aside expectations and do things their own way, 83 percent of women feel a positive emotion, describing a feeling of liberation, empowerment and calmness. In fact, while many women share similar moments, the survey found that they each have their own unique approach to make them their own.
- There is no such thing as a "perfect" date – Every woman has a different concept of their ideal date night. Going to a trendy restaurant (41%) topped the list, followed by having a romantic meal at home (33%) and enjoying takeout on the couch (26%).
- I embrace fitness to fit my life – When it comes to working out, women are more likely to get it in where they can like taking the stairs (54%) than hit the great outdoors on a hike or run (29%), or go to the gym with a buddy (17%).
- In parenthood there is no one size fits all when it comes to maximizing precious alone time – If given an hour to themselves, 48 percent of moms would catch up on their favorite show, 30 percent would treat themselves to pampering and 23 percent would relish the silence with a glass of wine.
"I'm so excited to have partnered with T.J.Maxx to celebrate how women are staying true to themselves to get to those moments that matter most," said Christine. "'Having it all' no longer means checking things off a list or having to be superwoman. It's about doing what you love based on your values and desires – maximizing what matters most to you as an individual."
T.J.Maxx partnered with Christine Hassler to share tips on how to master the moments that matter most to you:
- Be selfish: Women tend to put everything and everyone first. They need to learn the power of saying "no" to external demands so they can say "yes" to the moments they treasure.
- Make the time: We all have busy schedules, so schedule your moment to make sure it happens. It should be something you look forward to each day rather than another "to-do."
- Accessorize your moment: Whether it's having the high quality cookware for family dinner night or that designer spring dress for brunch with friends, it's important to have the tools that put a personal stamp on your moment. T.J.Maxx helps women express what matters most by providing an incredible selection of high quality and brand name items that facilitate and personalize any moment.
- There's no one size fits all: Creativity is a female superpower! Come up with a unique way to fit what matters most into your day. Maybe that means yoga in bed to get in your workout or a candlelit dinner on the couch for a casual date night.
- Life is not an Instagram photo: Remind yourself that social media is other people's highlight reel not their behind the scenes. Be you in every moment and make your moment work on your terms. Transform comparison into inspiration - whatever you see in someone else, use it as fuel to inspire you own unique ideas.
- Be in the "moment": Being present in a moment allows us to feel balanced because thoughts about the future often create anxiety. Taking a few deep breaths throughout the day is a simple, yet effective way to come back to the now.
