DURHAM, N.C., May 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ThunderWorks announced today the launch of a massive donation of 5,000 ThunderShirts to shelters and rescue groups before July 4th. Would you like to participate? Just send @ThunderShirt a Tweet, or message ThunderShirt on Facebook, the name of the shelter or rescue group you support, and (while quantities last) we will send them a donation. It's that simple!
Summer storms compounded by July 4th fireworks conspire to land thousands of dogs in the care of shelters and other rescue organizations every year around this time. A ThunderShirt can go a long way towards helping those dogs cope with the process of finding their way back to a loving family. Over the years we have donated many thousands of ThunderShirts, but this is our biggest campaign ever! Please help us to make it a success.
ThunderShirt has already helped millions of dogs and cats. Like swaddling an infant, its gentle, constant pressure has a wonderful calming effect on over 80% of cases. Experts believe that this kind of pressure releases calming hormones like endorphins or oxytocin. Over 30% of dogs suffer from some form of anxiety in the United States – that's over 20 million dogs! Common anxieties include fear of thunder, fireworks, separation anxiety and much more.
"It's our privilege to be able to help with the great work of shelters and rescue groups across the country. This year we wanted to involve more people in getting ThunderShirts into the right hands. We are thrilled with the response we are getting," states ThunderWorks CEO and founder Phil Blizzard.
"I've been using ThunderShirts for years with my training clients and have loved the results. Such a simple, safe calming tool. It's terrific that ThunderWorks is doing this donation program. I've already nominated one of my favorite organizations… Pets for Patriots!" says renowned animal trainer, Andrea Arden.
"Fear and anxiety are incredibly harmful to pets," said Dr. Marty Becker, a member of Core Team Oz on "The Dr. Oz Show" and founder of the Fear Free movement. "In my practice, we use ThunderShirts as a tool to help with all kinds of anxiety, whether caused by separation, loud noises, or visits to the vet. We even have a ThunderShirt 'lending library.' I'm very pleased to support this campaign to get this valuable tool to the pets in shelters and rescue groups this summer."
