Three Days Left to Compete in the 2010 US Cyber Challenge
WASHINGTON, May 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The US Cyber Challenge (USCC) has competitions currently running nationwide and in New York and California for high school and college students. The contests in New York and California end at midnight on May 20th. The Common Knowledge Scholarship quiz ends on May 21.
With three days remaining, approximately 1,500 students are currently competing. Interested students should go to the US Cyber Challenge website www.uscyberchallenge.org to learn more about the competitions and to compete before the deadline.
The US Cyber Challenge is a national talent search and skills development program that intends to find 10,000 young Americans who possess the interest and skills to become cybersecurity professionals.
To win the USCC Common Knowledge Scholarship, students must learn as much as they can about the US Cyber Challenge and then take two online multiple-choice quizzes on facts about the competition. The high scorers will win awards. 10th through 12th grade high school students in the U.S. and all undergraduate college students in the U.S. are eligible to compete. The Challenge Round in the quiz runs from May 8, 2010 until May 21, 2010. The top 25% of scorers then enter the Championship round beginning May 25th until May 27, 2010.
Participants register with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation and compete for the scholarship and prizes by taking online multiple-choice quizzes at the CKSF website, www.cksf.org. The US Cyber Challenge Common Knowledge Scholarship quizzes consist of information about the US Cyber Challenge which is found on their website, www.uscyberchallenge.org.
The Security Treasure Hunt competitions in New York and California will identify those college students who are uniquely qualified in cybersecurity skills. The winners of these competitions, together with the winners of the State of Delaware's competition which ended on May 16th, will attend all expenses paid Cyber Challenge Summer camps in July and August 2010 and receive free training from expert cybersecurity professionals.
