The Wellness Community - West Los Angeles to Honor Susan and Mark Burger, Julie and Evan 'Indy' Moore and Claudia Sangster at the 12th Annual 'Tribute to the Human Spirit' Awards Gala
Pamela Anderson to Present; Pauley Perrette to Emcee
LOS ANGELES, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wellness Community - West Los Angeles (TWC-WLA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, education and hope to people affected by cancer, hosts its "Tribute to the Human Spirit" Awards Gala on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This year's honorees include Susan and Mark Burger, Julie and Evan "Indy" Moore, and Claudia Sangster. NCIS' Pauley Perrette will emcee and Pamela Anderson is set to present. Co-chairs are Samantha and Royce Clayton, Ron and Tracey Bregman Recht, and Alice and Ken Starr.
Pamela Anderson will present to Julie and Evan "Indy" Moore, a physical education teacher at Point Dume Marine Science School in Malibu. In 2005 the Moores started Kamp Indy, offering after school programs, beach camps, sports camps and personal training programs. In 2009, Indy was diagnosed with thyroid cancer which has since been removed.
As a couple affected by cancer, designer Susan Burger and her husband Mark, co-founder of Pacific Development Partners, are especially concerned with education, health, family and community issues. Susan Burger started her interior design company in 1983 and Mark Burger, along with Ron Recht, founded Pacific Development Partners in 1986.
Claudia Sangster is Director of Philanthropy, Estate and Trust Services with Harris myCFO, Inc., a service within the Harris Private Bank, and President and Executive Director of the Harris myCFO Foundation, a public charity which sponsors donor advised funds.
All profits from the Gala will be used to sustain the programming at The Wellness Community-West Los Angeles and keep them free of charge. TWC-WLA's programs help to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. At TWC-WLA, participants can regain strength and a sense of control while learning about cancer trends, clinical trials and treatments.
