The Water Club Rejoins the New York Restaurant Scene
Fully Restored After Hurricane Sandy, the Beloved Waterfront Restaurant Reopens to the Public with a Delicious New Brunch Offering
NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A treasured destination on New York's East River, The Water Club proudly announces its reopening following the effects of Hurricane Sandy. After nearly a year of restoration, the restaurant is once again welcoming culinary enthusiasts from near and far to enjoy a delectable menu of classic American favorites and sweeping river views. Following a successful soft opening phase, The Water Club is now accepting dinner reservations Wednesday through Sunday nights and –for the first time ever- for a la carte brunch on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Since 2010, The Water Club's kitchen has been captained by Executive Chef Aaron Bashy. With over 25 years of restaurant experience, Chef Bashy strikes a perfect balance with the restaurant's menu – bringing both a respect for traditional American cuisine and a passion for creating new and innovative dishes. To celebrate the restaurant's triumphant return, he has transformed The Water Club's traditional Sunday brunch buffet into an expansive a la carte offering available on both Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend brunch-goers can choose from a selection of appetizers and entrees such as Sweet Ricotta Blintzes, Breakfast Pizza, a Lobster & Tarragon Omelet and Steak Frites while toasting the weekend with mimosas, sparkling sangria and a full Bloody Mary bar.
For dinner, classic options like Colorado Lamb Chops and Old School Lobster Thermidor have remained, along with new favorites such as Lobster Ravioli with Brandy Cream and Sunburst Farm Rainbow Trout. Downstairs in the restaurant's relaxed pub lounge, diners can also snack on fresh Shellfish Platters, Grilled Flatbread Pizzas and a selection of sliders including Tuna & Avocado and Corn Beef & Cabbage.
The Water Club debuted in 1982 and under the direction of visionary restaurateur Michael "Buzzy" O'Keeffe it quickly grew to be one of the most popular destinations in Manhattan. Emphasizing the restaurant's connection to the sea, the interior walls of The Water Club are bedecked with an impressive collection of nautical memorabilia. Furthering the maritime experience, the main dining room extends directly over the water and in the evenings, its twinkling overhead lights are reflected on the rippling current of the river below creating an enchanting effect. For a more causal evening, guests can congregate in the inviting pub lounge where plush seating and a roaring fireplace create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for enjoying light bites, premium cocktails and good company.
