The Sports Network Announces the Appointment of Craig Haley as FCS Executive Director
HATBORO, Pa., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sports Network (TSN), the nation's foremost real-time sports wire service, has announced the appointment of Craig Haley as FCS Executive Director.
"After a near exhaustive search to find the best talent for this position," stated Phil Sokol, Director of Operations for TSN, "with close to 150 capable and competent applicants responding, and some rather intense interviews, our search and investigative committee determined that Craig was the obvious choice."
Haley has spent 22 years with the Trenton Times (1988-2010), rising from staff writer (1988-96), to a position as scholastic sports editor (1996-99) and assistant sports editor (1996-2008), among other roles. The College of New Jersey native has also served as managing editor of playsportstv.com since 2008, performed column work for Versus.com since 2009, and has been a regular contributor to collegiate publications such as Lindy's (college basketball, 2004-present) and Athlon (college basketball and football 2001-present).
"He is more than suited, and highly qualified," continued Mr. Sokol, "to be at the helm of what has become the center of attention for the FCS and to coordinate the activities, marketing, promotion and direction of the Walter Payton Award, as well as the Eddie Robinson and Buck Buchanan Awards. The Payton has established itself as second only to the Heisman in prominence and prestige, heralded as the most sought after honor in the FCS while the Robinson and Buchanan, respectively, signify the best coach in the Division annually as well as the best defensive player. It is well to note that all three nominees for the Payton and the winner of the Buchanan were selected or signed as a free agent in the recent NFL Draft."
Tony Moss, TSN's NFL Editor / Senior Editor, added, "We are thrilled that Craig Haley will be joining us in the critical role of FCS Executive Director. He is a terrific columnist, extremely organized, detail-oriented, and the perfect candidate to enhance and further develop our services to the FCS colleges and universities, as well as the expansion, amplification and heightening of our overall alliance with The Division and the NCAA."
