The SCOOTER Store Creates Home Care Equipment Division
Company Signals Expansion of Product and Services Portfolio
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The SCOOTER Store, the nation's largest provider of power mobility products and services, has announced the creation of a new internal division focusing on Home Care equipment, accessories and related services to complement its traditional power mobility business.
The new Home Care equipment division will be based in New Braunfels, Texas, and operate out of the national headquarters location of The SCOOTER Store. It will leverage the company's significant investments in infrastructure, systems, processes, customer intake, compliance management, revenue cycle management, and national distribution and service capabilities to provide Home Care items efficiently and cost-effectively to new and existing customers.
The division will be launched in a multi-phase approach. Initially, it will focus on targeted markets with a select portfolio of Home Care equipment items. It will eventually expand into the full national footprint of The SCOOTER Store and offer a wide range of Home Care items. The division's growth is expected to occur organically and through strategic relationships with fully-licensed and accredited partners. Those relationships will help the division fulfill demand for Home Care equipment products and related services, as needed.
The SCOOTER Store has named Chris Bailey as Vice President over the new division. A Licensed Vocational Nurse, Bailey joined the company in 1999 and has held VP-level leadership positions since 2006.
The creation of the Home Care equipment division is a natural progression for the company, building on its historical efforts and experiences. It also formalizes a team that has been operating for many months, building a business plan, negotiating third-party relationships, and providing manual wheelchairs, walkers, patient lifts, nebulizers, hospital beds, support surfaces and accessories in targeted markets for insurance reimbursement. Additional items will be added in coming months.
"Our long-term vision and goal is 'To give every senior or disabled American the ability to live their entire life safely and confidently at home.' To fulfill that goal, our company must evolve beyond providing just power mobility solutions, and focus on meeting the holistic needs of our customers and their caregivers," said Doug Harrison, founder, chairman and CEO of The SCOOTER Store.
The evolution beyond standard power mobility began in 2007, when the company created the Alliance Seating and Mobility (ASM) division and entered the complex rehab and assistive technology market. Since then, the ASM division has grown and achieved a national presence with more than 80 Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs) creating customized solutions to meet the unique individual needs and requirements of customers with disabilities, progressive or degenerative neuromuscular diseases, congenital disorders, injuries, or trauma.
"We are pleased to announce the creation of our new Home Care equipment division. This is an important milestone, and it positions our company to eventually serve customers in many new ways and participate in a larger continuum of care. We are committed to saving our national healthcare system billions of dollars by helping more Americans remain in their homes with a better quality of life, thereby avoiding much more expensive and often degrading institutional care settings. Disabled and senior Americans deserve to be happy, healthy, and safe in their homes, and connected to their family, friends, and community," added Harrison.
The SCOOTER Store currently has ecommerce and direct sales organizations that sell some Home Care-related items. The company also has 59 retail store locations. Those organizations are expected to promote additional Home Care items and related services as they are offered by the new Home Care equipment division.
