The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Will Not Sell Powdered Alcohol Products in Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today unanimously voted to deny listing submissions for powdered alcohol products. In order for products to be sold in Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores, they must first go through the listing process and be approved for sale by the Board.
"While we have not been approached to sell any powdered alcohol products, we wanted to clearly state our position proactively on this particular form of alcohol," said PLCB Chairman Skip Brion. "Based on the information we currently have, we have significant concerns about the ease with which this product could be concealed, transported and potentially abused. As a result, we will not accept any listing submissions for powdered alcohol products."
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, nine states have already banned powdered alcohol, and several others are considering legislative bans.
The PLCB regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol and also operates more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide. Taxes and store profits are returned to Pennsylvania's General Fund. For more information about the Liquor Control Board, visit www.lcb.state.pa.us.
