The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and Prinkshop Unveil New "Mind Your Meds" T-Shirts and Tote Bags to Help Address Medicine Abuse
~ Proceeds Benefit the Nonprofit's Medicine Abuse Project
NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, a national nonprofit working to reduce substance abuse among adolescents, and Prinkshop today launched new, bold graphic design t-shirts and tote bags reminding people to "Mind Your Meds." Proceeds benefit the Partnership's work to prevent half a million teens from abusing medicine. Research shows that 1 in 4 teens has abused a prescription (Rx) medicine and 80 percent of those who try heroin for the first time have previously abused Rx pain medication.
Prinkshop is a cause-centric community that creates advocacy campaigns for today's most pressing social issues and uses the medium of silkscreen to illustrate the campaigns onto t-shirts, notebooks and totes featuring bold, text-based graphic products that help spark conversation about issues. Prinkshop collaborates with organizations like the Partnership and donates 30 percent of the profits to help further the nonprofit's mission.
"The Partnership, along with its 'Mind Your Meds' campaign, is a perfect partner for us. We aim to create awareness and reduce the abuse of prescription drugs in teens' lives, while raising funds to support the work of this important nonprofit," said Prinkshop founder, Pamela Bell.
"Pamela and her Prinkshop team are incredible collaborators, and they bring such passion to the sophisticated designs they create," said Kristi Rowe, Chief Marketing Officer for the Partnership. "We are honored to be one of the fantastic causes that Prinkshop supports, and hope that our products are a catalyst for conversation about this dangerous epidemic."
The "Mind Your Meds'"totes debuted earlier this month at a New York City screening of "Out of Reach," a unique documentary short film commissioned by the Partnership. "Out of Reach" captures the issue of teen prescription drug abuse as it exists in the world of teen filmmaker Cyrus Stowe, who created the film.
The "Mind Your Meds" t-shirts and totes are available on Prinkshop's online store, and are produced in a nonprofit, socially responsible factory in the East Village in New York City. The products will be shipped, with passion, by individuals contracted by Prinkshop who have been marginalized in society.

About the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids
The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids is dedicated to reducing substance abuse among adolescents by supporting families and engaging with teens. We develop public education campaigns that drive awareness of teen substance abuse, and lead teen-targeted efforts that inspire young people to make positive decisions to stay healthy and avoid drugs and alcohol. On our website, drugfree.org, and through our toll-free helpline (1-855-DRUGFREE), we provide families with direct support and guidance to help them address teen substance abuse. Finally, we build healthy communities, advocating for great access to adolescent treatment and funding for youth prevention programs. As a national nonprofit, we depend on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and the public sector and are thankful to SAG-AFTRA and the advertising and media industries for their ongoing generosity. We are proud to receive a Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities, as well as a National Accredited Charity Seal from The Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance.
