'The Office' Lives On As Quill.com, NBCUniversal Extend Dunder Mifflin Licensing Deal
Quill.com Celebrates Extension With Sweepstakes Launch and Sale Pricing
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. and UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The groundbreaking licensing deal that created the Dunder Mifflin line of office products has received a multi-year extension, Quill.com and NBCUniversal announced today.
To celebrate the extension, Quill is giving away commemorative "World's Best Boss" mugs to the first 200 people who share pictures of Dunder Mifflin products in their offices via Twitter using the hashtag #ShowUsYourDunder, or who e-mail [email protected]. Many submitted photos of the products in their "natural habitat" will be featured on the Dunder Mifflin home page and via Quill.com's Facebook and Twitter pages.
Quill.com is also offering discounts of up to 30% on select Dunder Mifflin items purchased through March 31, 2014.
"On 'The Office,' Dunder Mifflin is a struggling company, but in the real world it's a thriving brand," said Paul Bessinger, Quill.com's Director of Innovation. "Businesses all over the nation have learned that it's fun to have a bit of 'The Office' in their workplaces."
To date, more than 171,000 offices have purchased Dunder Mifflin products. "The success of the real-life Dunder Mifflin brand is helping to keep the legacy of 'The Office' alive with the show's many fans and we are thrilled that it will continue for years to come," said Kim Niemi, Senior Vice President, NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group.
Quill.com has sold Dunder Mifflin-branded office products since late 2011, when it launched Dunder Mifflin Copy Paper, which became one of Quill.com's top five SKUs (out of more than 150,000). That early success inspired a 2012 line extension that added new Dunder Mifflin products such as "Sticky Squares," "Yellow Paper with Straight Lines" and Sharpies. Though the final first-run episodes of "The Office" aired last May, interest remained robust enough for Quill.com and NBCU to extend their licensing agreement, which was brokered by Joy Tashjian Marketing Group, LLC. JTMG worked on both the original licensing deal and the renewal.
