The International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) Celebrates 10 Years of Promoting Novel Pathogenic, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Interventions for Liver Cancer at the 10th ILCA Annual Conference
BRUSSELS, August 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) announces its 10th ILCA Annual Conference, which will take place on 9-11 September in Vancouver, Canada.
This year's meeting is very special as it marks the 10th Anniversary of ILCA. For the past 10 years, ILCA has been significantly contributing to advancing liver cancer science, consistently focusing on its mission to promote novel pathogenic, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for liver cancer by taking a transversal approach to research and bringing together scientists, physicians and allied professionals from all interrelated fields.
Since its creation, ILCA has brought together the most eminent liver cancer experts from all around the globe around this common scientific purpose, with the ultimate goal to improve prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care of patients. The disease is heavily impacting public health globally, and ILCA is now established as one of the most significant contributors to liver cancer science.
"It is my hope that we continue to grow as an organisation and see more primary data presented at the Annual Meeting. ILCA should become the place to present results. It will happen as we continue to get an even greater turn out at the meeting from all disciplines; from basic scientists to clinical trialists. The ILCA Governing Board has international representation and is multi-specialty."
- Richard Finn (USA), ILCA President 2015-2017
"As the first ILCA President I recall several achievements that paved the road for success. We had an impressive acceptance by colleagues all over the world to set up ILCA. The organisation of a multidisciplinary group to work around an area of knowledge was immediately identified as a great initiative that would allow to efficiently interact beyond the limitations of associations devoted to a specific speciality. This interaction is the major benefit from ILCA and it has resulted in major publications in the field of liver cancer."
- Jordi Bruix (Spain), ILCA President 2007-2009
This year again ILCA has prepared a programme featuring multidisciplinary and transversal insights, with the objective to encourage and stimulate scientific debate and networking between liver cancer experts from all regions.
This year's ILCA Annual Meeting will attract as many as 600 hepatologists, gastroenterologists, oncologists, basic researchers, pathologists, surgeons and allied professionals across liver cancer related disciplines to exchange on their findings, experiences and best practices.
290 abstracts were accepted to the ILCA Annual Meeting, the vast majority of which will be publicly made available at ilca2016.org in August 2016.

About ILCA (http://www.ilca-online.org)
The International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) is the only international organisation devoted exclusively to liver cancer research for experts from all related disciplines. Liver cancer is rapidly increasing worldwide, triggering widespread interest and a strong focus on all aspects of the disease. Given the naturally multidisciplinary nature of liver cancer, however, no single association has, before ILCA, adopted a transversal approach to liver cancer by connecting expertise from all interrelated fields, research and treatment. ILCA was established in 2006, in response to this shortfall and has since then been the only international organisation devoted exclusively to liver cancer across all disciplines.
About the ILCA Annual Conference. This annual meeting is the biggest event in the ILCA calendar, attracting scientific and medical experts from around the world to exchange the latest scientific advances and best practices in liver cancer research and care. Specialists share latest approaches and findings, and discuss the hottest topics related to liver cancer. This year, the conference is expected to attract approximately 600 delegates from all over the world. 2016 is a very special year for ILCA as it will celebrate the 10th Anniversary. ILCA 2016 takes place on 9-11 September 2016 in Vancouver, Canada. To register, visit http://ilca2016.org/registration/
