DENVER, Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Denver-based urban winery The Infinite Monkey Theorem (TIMT) has partnered with Whole Foods Market to roll out its signature, single-serve canned wines nationwide, offering wine lovers across the country endless opportunities to pick up a four-pack and imbibe just about anywhere.
"At Whole Foods Market, we are on a mission to provide shoppers with exciting, innovative options that always over-deliver for the price. The Infinite Monkey Theorem brand is a perfect example of that," said Devon Broglie, Master Sommelier and global beverage buyer for Whole Foods Market. "Infinite Monkey Theorem offers the taste and quality our customers expect, with the convenience of a can for their active and adventurous lifestyles. Launching this brand nationally helps us continue offering intriguing, leading-edge wine options that satisfy and delight our customers."
TIMT's "drink anywhere" white, red, rosé and Moscato wine-in-a-can varietals (available in four-packs of 250ml cans, equivalent to eight 4.2-ounce glasses of wine), offers infinite possibilities of where and how to enjoy wine—no somm skills, corkscrew or wine glasses required. The canned wine is currently available in Whole Foods Market stores throughout California, Colorado, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Florida, Oregon, Southern California, Texas and Washington state, with more being added in the near future. The one-liter four-pack has a suggested retail price of $15.
"The Infinite Monkey Theorem is thrilled to make our wines available to Whole Foods Market customers across the country through this partnership, introducing them to the convenience of single-serve wine that may be enjoyed wherever and whenever," said TIMT CEO and winemaker Ben Parsons. "Not all can sizes are created equal. Our one-of-a-kind single-serve can breaks with tradition and offers wine lovers a quality product with the convenience of a lightweight and portable pack-in/pack-out vessel that can go in a backpack for a fall hike or in a cooler for tailgating season."
Wine in Cans: Single-serve and Recyclable
Why has TIMT canned its wine since 2011? Cans are portable, unbreakable and prevent light and other impurities from contaminating the wine inside. One hundred percent recyclable, aluminum is the most sustainable of all materials (less than 30 percent of all glass is recycled). A can may be recycled, turned into a new can and returned to store shelves in 60 days, on average — and there's no limit to how many times a can may be recycled. Cans are lighter than glass bottles, too, so they're more easily transported and less likely to break or leak during distribution. What's more, an opened bottle of wine can oxidize quickly, which often means waste. Other benefits of canned wine include:
- Cans weigh 17 pounds for six liters of wine -- two-thirds less than the weight of the equivalent volume of wine in traditional glass bottles.
- Since 2011, TIMT cans have saved 72,000 glass bottles, corks and capsules and 6,000 cardboard boxes from Colorado landfills. In the next five years, TIMT predicts its cans will keep 600,000 glass bottles, corks and capsules and 50,000 cardboard boxes from Colorado landfills.
- Cans may be taken anywhere! Pack in, pack out!

About The Infinite Monkey Theorem
Ben Parsons founded The Infinite Monkey Theorem winery in 2008 in a no-vineyard/no-pretense setting in a Quonset hut in downtown Denver. Predominantly he uses grapes from the Western Slope of Colorado, resulting in top-notch, well-respected, accessible wines, produced at the 15,000-sq.-ft. urban winery located in Denver's River North Art District, also home to the winery's tap room and event space. A second urban winery will open in Austin, Texas in Fall 2015. To honor Ben's father, who passed away from cancer, and to continue the search for a cure, TIMT has partnered with the University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC), the Rocky Mountain region's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. A portion of proceeds from each TIMT bottle sold benefits this fund. The Infinite Monkey Theorem wines are available at more than 400 retail outlets and restaurants across Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Oregon, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Texas, Virginia, Washington state and Washington, D.C., as well as nationwide via The Infinite Monkey Theorem's online wine club.
