The Hague, The Netherlands: addressing cyber issues and showcasing innovations during Cyber Security Week
THE HAGUE, Netherlands, March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hague will be the center of the cyber world for one week in April. Leading up to the Global Conference on Cyberspace (GCCS) hosted by the Dutch government on April 16-17, the Dutch security cluster 'The Hague Security Delta' (HSD) will host a Cyber Security Week (April 13-17) at their Campus. The event will bring together some of the key players in the cyber security domain to promote cyber security education, networking, and investments.
The HSD Campus will host more than 30 workshops, network events, lectures, and demonstrations in the field of cyber security. An innovation room will also be featured at the event showcasing the latest Dutch developments in cyber security and will be opened by the Dutch minister Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs and Jozias van Aartsen, Mayor of the City of The Hague.
The momentum of the GCCS, bringing more than 100 international delegations to The Hague, provides an opportunity to organize side events about specific cyber security issues. Representatives from governments, private sector and civil society will gather in order to promote practical cooperation in cyberspace, to enhance cyber capacity building, and to discuss norms for responsible behavior in cyberspace.
From Sony to JPMorgan Chase, major companies have faced cyber security threats in this past year alone. "We've seen the tremendous impact of cyber security in our world this year," said the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of The Hague, Ingrid van Engelshoven. "The Hague is proud to host this Cyber Security Week, which will play a vital role in providing real solutions for a free, open and secure Internet."
With 400 security businesses in The Hague region and organizations such as Cybercrime Centre Europol, the National Cyber Security Centre, NATO Communications and Information Agency and Cyber Security Academy, The Hague has established itself as the Cyber Security Capital of Europe.
Also during Cyber Security Week, the 13th annual two-day ONE Conference will be held on April 13-14. The ONE Conference is organized by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of the Ministry of Security and Justice.
