PARIS, February 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 2009, the French group NCT Necotrans has been in charge of the concession of the Conakry container terminal.
In 2008, following an international call for bids in which major sector players participated (Maersk and Bollore in particular), Getma International, a subsidiary of the French group NCT Necotrans, with locations in 25 African countries, was declared the winning bidder of the container terminal concession contract at Conakry Port and its expansion for the next 25 years.
Despite political developments in the country, the NCT Necotrans Group has already invested more than 27 million euros and created 400 new jobs there. As per the terms of the concession agreement, the Group is preparing to make additional capital investments of more than 100 million Euros.
In the event the NCT Necotrans Group does not fulfill its obligations, the concession contract provides for a comprehensive series of notification procedures (registered mail, followup meetings, penalties, etc.). The Guinea government did not trigger any of these procedures, meaning that the authorities are satisfied with the quality of the work done by the NCT Necotrans Group.
If such a cancellation was to be decided in defiance of all international laws, this would send a very negative signal to all industrial and financial investors who wish to develop contractual agreements in this country.
