The Center for Medical Weight Loss (http://www.cmwl.com) a three year old business that is rapidly transforming the weight loss industry by empowering physicians to help patients fight obesity, today announced it has appointed Microsoft executive, Scott Howe, to its board of directors.
The rapidly expanding company currently has 300 weight loss centers across 43 states and is already the largest network of medical weight loss providers in the United States. The centers offer customized weight loss treatments that are administered exclusively by doctors and based on proprietary programs developed by Dr. Michael Kaplan, a recognized leader in the emerging field of bariatric medicine.
Mr. Howe, a corporate vice president at Microsoft, has global revenue and cost responsibility for all existing and emerging businesses in Microsoft's Advertiser and Publisher Solutions (APS) group.
Howe joined Microsoft through its acquisition of aQuantive Inc. in 2007 and is a seasoned veteran in the online advertising space, having served aQuantive as founder and President of DRIVEpm (since renamed Microsoft Media Network) and Atlas sales and service globally. Prior to his involvement with DRIVEpm, Howe spent four plus years as the VP, GM of Avenue A | Razorfish. He also spent six years with the Boston Consulting Group and two years in investment banking with Kidder, Peabody and Co.
"We're very excited to have an executive of Scott's caliber join our board," said Kevin Eberly, who became CEO for Center for Medical Weight Loss in November of 2009. "Scott has demonstrated throughout his career an ability to apply strategic and organizational leadership, business development and sales and marketing skills to build and grow businesses. His advanced knowledge of emerging technologies, sophisticated targeting capabilities and premiere partners will greatly assist our efforts to grow our network of certified professionals and to create relevance and awareness for the Center for Medical Weight Loss and the services our doctors provide to their patients".
"This is an extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in the lives of millions of people who are overweight or obese," adds Mr. Howe. "The Center for Medical Weight Loss has the ability to dramatically help individuals with their health, lower health care costs and provide effective results for a wide range of weight related health problems. Physicians are on the leading edge of treating conditions caused by overweight and are in the most informed position to customize effective and sensible programs for their patients. The company has proven it can have a positive impact, and I believe the logical next step is to make as many people as possible aware of the wonderful services these doctors provide for overweight patients.
