The Candie's Foundation Debuts New Public Service Announcement Featuring Bristol Palin and Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino

NEW YORK, Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Candie's Foundation released today a viral Public Service Announcement ("PSA'") video featuring Bristol Palin and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, of MTV's The Jersey Shore and ABC's Dancing with the Stars, for the prevention of teenage pregnancy.  

Bristol and Mike debate safe sex and abstinence in a humorous viral video and urge teens to "Pause Before You Play."  The underlying message of the video is that both safe sex with protection and abstinence are methods to prevent teenage pregnancy.

Bristol Palin and Mike Sorrentino met while starring on this season's Dancing with the Stars.  Palin has been a Teen Ambassador to The Candie's Foundation for the past year and a half.  Sorrentino became involved with The Candie's Foundation to help educate America's youth about the devastating consequences of teen pregnancy, stating, "It's an important cause and I am proud to be a part of it."  

Each year nearly 750,000 teens become pregnant.  More than half of teen mothers don't graduate from high school and less than 8% of teen mothers marry their baby's father.  The Candie's Foundation has been instrumental in starting a dialogue to reduce the number of teen pregnancies in the United States.

The new PSA campaign will launch on the internet on highly visited websites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other popular teen websites as well as live on www.candiesfoundation.org.
