The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project™ Returns For Its Fifth Year of Keeping America's Beaches 'Barefoot Friendly'
Musician Brett Dennen Joins Initiative with Barefoot Wine & Surfrider Foundation
MODESTO, Calif., May 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Did you know that when asked to grade the current state of our beaches, a majority of American beachgoers chose a mediocre 'C'?(1) According to a survey conducted by Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation, Americans are concerned about the condition of their shorelines. To help remedy this, Barefoot Wine proudly announces the fifth year of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project, a partnership with the Surfrider Foundation - a grassroots, nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches. Since 2007, the project has traveled from coast-to-coast hosting more than 50 beach cleanups and dune restorations, removing more than 12 tons of litter and debris, to help keep America's coastlines beautiful.
This summer, the project will travel to more than 20 beaches nationwide. Musician Brett Dennen will join volunteers on the beach during select cleanups and perform at participant appreciation celebrations organized by the Surfrider Foundation following the cleanups. Brett will showcase songs from his latest album Loverboy, released in April 2011.
"Growing up in California, I always spent a lot of time at the beach and have great memories from my time at the shore," said Brett. "The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project is an awesome way to bring attention to great causes and give back to local communities by cleaning their shorelines."
