Text Analysis International's New Service Allows Unstructured Text to Be Processed on the Cloud
CUPERTINO, Calif., Aug. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Text Analysis International (TAI) announces the launch of their Natural Language Processing Cloud service, or NLP Cloud. TAI offers off-the-shelf analyzers for entity extraction, sentiment analysis, medical documents, real estate documents, and resume processing, as well as its TAIParse general English analyzer for tailoring to specific applications. Programmers, linguists, and nonprogrammers, can learn to edit, maintain, and enhance text analyzers. TAI builds on Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology developed by Amnon Meyers, CTO, and David de Hilster, COO. The VisualText® platform, NLP++® programming language, and Conceptual Grammar® knowledge base management system were productized in 2001.

During the past decade and a half, TAI's technology has been adopted by companies both small and large, spanning a variety of applications and domains. A major internal undertaking was the multi-year effort to create the TAIParse English text analyzer, a starting point for many applications. TAI also has developed analyzers in conjunction with OCR engines to make data extraction more accurate by creating analyzers that understand not only unstructured text, but also zones, lines, tables, and columns.
"TAI is unique in that it has a programming language for processing natural language much like PHP, Java, or HTML," says COO David de Hilster, co-architect of VisualText. "Today, the business world realizes that black boxes and statistical methods can only go so far. Text processors are like websites: you can start with a template, but eventually you have to customize it to the needs of your company. TAI's cloud offers that," continues de Hilster. "TAI's NLP++ language allows mixing all levels of linguistic analysis from OCR typos to sentence structure, to story-level analysis, all in one package – each level communicating with any other level," adds de Hilster.
De Hilster explains, "This is the Holy Grail: a programming language for everyone to tackle and understand unstructured language at any level. Given enough time and resources, the natural language processing problem will be solved and TAI has the language and system to do just that."
In conjunction with the NLP Cloud, TAI has created an NLP++ community website where programmers, linguists and non-programmers alike can learn more about VisualText, NLP++, and Conceptual Grammar. With more companies adopting TAI's technology, there is a shortage of NLP++ programmers and TAI is incubating this community to get the word out.
