OSLO, Norway, April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Tesla Opens Showroom and Service Center in Oslo Norway
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA) will open its newest showroom and service center in Norway's largest city, at Verkseier Furulundsvei 16, 0668 Oslo.
The Oslo showroom will introduce Europe to a new, highly interactive touchscreen experience designed to show exactly what it's like to GO Electric! The service center will be similar to other state-of-the-art Tesla service centers in London, Eindhoven and California. The new Oslo facility will enable Tesla to continue to provide an outstanding ownership experience in Norway, and demonstrates Tesla`s ongoing commitment to the ever expanding Norwegian market. Norway currently boasts a very enthusiastic community of over 75 Roadster owners.
"All of our current customers in Norway have made the extra effort to seek out Tesla in Copenhagen - which until now was their nearest store. I'm very pleased to acknowledge their loyalty and support with a brand new Oslo showroom and Tesla Service Center," says VP of Worldwide Sales and Ownership Experience George Blankenship. "Locating in Oslo underscores Tesla's commitment to Norway, and also provides a great place to learn more about Roadster and Model S, our exciting new premium electric sedan."
Norway has embraced the all-electric Tesla Roadster, which is a limited edition of 2,500 cars. Very few remain, and Tesla expects Roadster to sell out in the next few months. In addition to delivering a thrilling driving experience, long range and zero emissions, the Tesla Roadster is exempt from traditional vehicle taxes in Norway, and enjoys many other driving convenience incentives. These benefits, combined with high petrol prices, make the Tesla Roadster a tremendous value and a great car to drive every day.
"Driving my Roadster on my daily commute of 150 km in the bus lane saves me a lot of time and frustration, and I also don't pay combustion charges. I enjoy a 4 kr/km tax credit, as well as free parking and charging," says Bjorn Ottsen, a local Roadster owner. "The Roadster also is excellent in winter - it's warm, handles beautifully, and winter range is the same as in summer."
Tesla's new Model S premium sedan will also make its first appearance in Norway at the opening of the Oslo showroom and service center. Model S will be available for public viewing Thursday, April 12th from 10:00 to 19:00, Friday, April 13th from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday, April 14th from 10:00 to 14:00.
