TeleTracking Showcases Future Trends In Patient Flow at HIMSS 2010
Impact of RTLS, Transfer Center Automation Featured At Booth 7809
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleTracking Technologies (www.teletracking.com), the KLAS category leader in patient flow technology, will highlight future trends in patient flow, including the paradigm-shifting potential of sensor networks, during the 2010 HIMSS conference March 1 in Atlanta, GA.
TeleTracking and subsidiary RadarFind, a recently acquired real-time location system (RTLS) company, will feature the latter's unique sensor network which not only locates patients, staff and assets, but reports on their status and context.
"This capability has the potential to shift the industry paradigm from simply locating, something to perceiving, or knowing the real-time status of everything and everyone within a specific context, with no exceptions," said TeleTracking CEO Anthony Sanzo.
For example, the sensor network can determine not only the location of an asset, but if an IV pump should be disinfected, whether a refrigerator is maintaining the proper temperature for costly medicines or tissue samples, if a wheelchair is empty or a surgery patient is in the right recovery bay.
Merging the sensor network with patient flow software will allow staff to know if the right patient is in the right location for a procedure at the right time with the right assets. It will also tell precisely how long the patient was in a location, where to find patients scheduled for time-sensitive treatment, and when a high-risk patient is leaving a "safe" area.
The world leader in patient flow automation will also feature an array of new and updated products, including a software solution which automates hospital transfer centers, two solutions for managing patient flow through clinical areas, and a full suite of integrated patient flow applications which have been adapted to its browser-based TeleTracking XT™ enterprise class platform.
TeleTracking's TransferCenter™ solution is designed to extend the principles of automated patient flow to hospital referral centers, whose traditional manual data entry and reporting cannot keep pace with the demands placed on multi-specialty hospitals today. When integrated with TeleTracking's suite of patient flow solutions, it gives referral center staff the ability to monitor patient flow throughout an enterprise and make bed assignments for transferring patients. In addition, experienced transfer center practitioners from the firm's Avanti consulting division provide real-world knowledge on how to create the most efficient center possible.
"By adding the TransferCenter™ solution to our portfolio," said Sanzo, "we have expanded the spectrum of patient flow to expedite the transfer of patients with immediate needs that are best treated at a specialty care hospital."
Transfer Centers coordinate all admissions requests from other hospitals and local physicians, capturing critical patient data and facilitating communications inside and outside of the hospital. Automating the process will result in faster transfers, which can save lives and improve care. When linked to TeleTracking's industry-leading Bed Management Suite™, TransferCenter™ allows staff to quickly locate available beds or surgical/treatment suites.
TeleTracking will also demonstrate its proven Capacity Management Suite™, and new solutions such as the Custom Reporting Solution™ and PatientTracking Portal™, all now available on the TeleTracking XT™ platform.
In addition, TeleTracking will provide an update on the integration of the Capacity Management Suite™ powered by TeleTracking XT™ and Hill-Rom's NaviCare® Nurse Call solution, a joint venture announced last year.
