LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Techno Source, a division of LF Products (a Li & Fung company), and KD Interactive, a division of KD Group, makers of the best-selling Kurio line of Android devices for families with kids, announce the Kurio 7x 4G LTE, the kids' tablet with wireless WAN. "If today's families are always on the go, why should their kids' tablet experience have to end when Wi-Fi connection is unavailable?" said Eric Levin, division head, Techno Source. "By teaming up with Verizon Wireless, we're not only offering kids a seamless Kurio experience, but with Verizon's Share Everything Plans, an affordable one at that."
"More and more streaming and on-demand services are becoming available," said Pieter van den Bosch, strategic director, KD Group. "By adding Verizon Wireless 4G LTE connectivity combined with a quad-core processor, the new Kurio 7x 4G LTE tablet will provide easy and smooth access to all of these resources, wherever kids are using their tablets."
Kurio 7x 4G LTE features the powerful Kurio suite of parental controls that made the Kurio 7s Wi-Fi-enabled tablet so popular with families. Using the intuitive Kurio interface, families can create up to eight unique user profiles, each offering full separation of files, apps, game progress and scores, downloads, parental control settings and more.
It's like having eight different tablets in one. Parents determine each child's level of Internet access, choosing from recommended settings by child age, blocking specific websites and inappropriate terms, or by creating safe lists. The Kurio Genius™ Internet filtering system with advanced security levels and daily auto-updates covers more than 450 million websites (and counting) in 170 different languages. Parents can also set daily time limits and manage applications by profile, including restricting web access by app.
The 4G LTE device will also include advanced parental controls designed especially for mobile access via the Verizon Wireless network, including geolocation, data management and remote administration features. Kurio's parental controls are built into the device. No subscription is required. This new Kurio tablet also adds Bluetooth connectivity. The device will come in black with red accents and it will also include a blue protective bumper.
Verizon Wireless' family-friendly Share Everything Plans include unlimited voice minutes, unlimited text, video and picture messaging and a single data allowance for up to 10 Verizon Wireless devices. Customers adding a tablet on their Share Everything Plans can do so for an additional $10, with no long-term contract requirement.
The Kurio 7x 4G LTE tablet will be showcased at 2014 International CES in the Kids@Play TechZone in The Venetian, Level 2, Venetian Ballroom, daily January 7th to 10th. North American Kurio inquiries can be directed to Techno Source in booth #71103, and international requests to KD Interactive in booth #71003. The Kurio 7x 4G LTE tablet is expected to ship in summer of 2014.
Executives from Techno Source, KD Interactive and Verizon Wireless will participate in a fireside chat on "The Future of Kids' Tablets" at the Kids@Play and MommyTech conference at CES on January 8, 2014. The discussion takes place at 12:15 p.m. PT in the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC), North Hall, Room N256.
The Kurio 7x 4G LTE follows the award-winning, best-selling Kurio S Series of Wi-Fi-enabled Android family devices introduced in July of 2013. The S Series, currently available at retailers nationwide, includes the Kurio Touch 4s, a 4" handheld; the Kurio 7s, a 7" tablet; and the Kurio 10s, a 10" tablet.
