SEATTLE, March 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Giving back to education is at the core of Inspirus Credit Union who announced today how they will support funding for education in 2017.
Inspirus Credit Union has committed $100,000 to education this year, awarded to teachers across Washington State in the form of school supplies and classroom resources, through nonprofit, DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is an online crowdfunding site that directly benefits Washington classrooms by providing them with learning materials.
Every Friday for the duration of the year, one teacher in Washington will get their project request fully-funded by Inspirus Credit Union. The announcement will be made on the credit unions Facebook page and can also be found by searching #FundFriday.
This generous giveback goes to the heart of Inspirus. "It's our mission to give back to education, and this is one way we give back," said Vice President of Marketing Sherry Lotze. "We want to support those who teach the leaders of tomorrow, and we hope they will benefit greatly from this."
The first project Inspirus is funding will provide Madrona Elementary School Teacher Katie Paul and her students with phonemic awareness tools and games to support her kindergarteners' knowledge of number sets and sounds to help with their math and reading skills.
"This will have a huge impact on my kiddos," said Mrs. Paul.
Most projects on DonorsChoose.org range from $300 to over $2,000, with the average cost per project at $700. If you are interested in starting a project or making a donation, visit inspirusCU.org/Fund-Friday for more information.
