TAAB Announces World Art Day Event in Honor of Artist Bedri Baykam at UCLA, Los Angeles on April 10
LOS ANGELES, April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Turkish American Artist Bridge (TAAB), a non-profit arts foundation, will be hosting an evening dedicated to Bedri Baykam, the prominent Turkish artist and World President of the International Association of Art (IAA), an official partner of UNESCO.
The event titled "World Influencers: An Evening with Bedri Baykam" will take place at UCLA's School of Law on Sunday, April 10th 2016 at 5 pm. It is part of worldwide celebrations surrounding World Art Day on April 15, which was spearheaded by Baykam and the IAA committee. Baykam is being recognized for his contributions to art and culture at weeklong events organized by Art Walk LA (http://downtownartwalk.org/).

The evening will include a talk by Baykam and a video presentation about his life. The event is co-sponsored by UCLA's Center for Near Eastern Studies (http://www.international.ucla.edu//cnes/).
Baykam is an internationally-renown artist and writer, as well as a cultural and political commentator, whose work spans 50 plus years. He has had 136 solo shows and group exhibits at museums and galleries around the world, and has written 26 books and countless articles, including the top-selling, "Monkeys' Right to Paint", a groundbreaking book about multiculturalism. Baykam studied at the Paris Sorbonne and the California College of Arts. He was elected World President of the IAA in 2015 and will serve until 2019. The Turkish American Artist Bridge is an independent, non-profit charity organization whose mission is to promote a cross-cultural exchange of art, music, film and other art forms.
