Synutra Receives Manufacturing License Renewal
First Domestic Infant Formula Producer to be Re-Certified
QINGDAO, China and ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Synutra International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYUT), a leading infant formula company in China and a producer, marketer and seller of nutritional products for infants, children and adults, today announced that it has renewed its manufacturing license for its primary production facility with the Shandong Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. The Company is the first domestic infant formula producer to complete the mandatory re-certification process in China.
As per the regulation, industry participants, including all infant milk formula and dairy product companies, were to resubmit applications by the end of the year 2010, and cease production in the event of failure to obtain the renewal permit prior to March, 2011.
The renewal permit is granted under regulatory measures introduced by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) in late 2010, which are based on China's Food Safety Laws adopted by the People's Congress earlier in 2010.
