Sustainable, High-Rise Apartment Community vPoint Opens in Clarendon's Urban Village
Arlington Community to Celebrate Grand Opening on April 12th
ARLINGTON, Va., April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Clarendon, a popular Arlington neighborhood known for plentiful dining, shopping and entertainment destinations, is now home to vPoint, a new high-rise, mixed-income apartment community located just one half block from the Clarendon Metro station.
Co-developed by Bozzuto Development Company and Chesapeake Community Advisors, and in partnership with Arlington County, the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA), and The Views at Clarendon Corporation, vPoint is widely viewed as a significant step in addressing Arlington's affordable housing shortage.
The community's grand opening will be celebrated on Thursday, April 12th at 3:00 p.m. with a reception featuring remarks from State Senator Barbara Favola, Arlington County Board Vice-Chair Walter Tejada, VHDA Executive Director Susan Dewey, Chesapeake Community Advisors Vice President Ben Etheridge and Bozzuto Development Company President Toby Bozzuto. Following the VIP reception, a public celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m.
vPoint consists of eight stories of apartment homes atop the site's original occupant, The Church at Clarendon. An adjacent, connected building housing the County's largest child daycare center. The development preserved the church's steeple – a landmark in Clarendon – and created 120 underground parking spaces.
The Class A apartment community consists of 46 market-rate apartment homes and 70 affordable apartment homes, in a mix of studios, one, two and three-bedroom floor plans.
Residents benefit from environmentally-conscious features and products including bike storage, carpool drop-off area, ENERGY STAR appliances, dual-flush toilets, low VOC paints, Green Label Plus carpet and recycling centers on each floor. vPoint is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council and is expected to achieve at least a LEED Silver certification.
