Susan John, CFP® Elected 2018 Chair-Elect
Past chair of National Association of Personal Financial Advisors to lead CFP Board's Board of Directors in 2019
WASHINGTON, Aug. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Susan John, CFP® has been elected 2018 Chair-elect of the Board of Directors for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board). As Chair-elect, she will lead the development of the organization's policies and provide strategic direction in granting, upholding and promoting CFP® certification, recognized as the standard of excellence in financial planning.
Susan John has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. She is the Founder and President of Financial Focus, Inc., which provides comprehensive planning services to northern New England professionals, retirees, and families.

Professionally, John has been providing personal and business financial planning services since 1985. She is a leader in the profession, having completed two terms on the national Board of Directors for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, serving as Chair from 2010 to 2012. Among her many accomplishments at NAPFA was helping form the Financial Planning Coalition, a collaboration between the three major financial planning organizations in the United States, which also includes the Financial Planning Association and CFP Board. She currently serves as a Director and Vice President at the Central New Hampshire Visiting Nurse Association as well as on the advisory boards of Wright Museum of World War II and the Eastern Lakes Housing Coalition Beck Fund. John received her Bachelor's degree from Plymouth State University.

The Board of Directors elected John to the new role at its July 2017 meeting. Current Chair-elect Richard Salmen, CFP® will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors in 2018 and John will become Chair of the Board in 2019.
