SURVIVOR TV Show Winners Offered $100,000 to Win Spartan Death Race
72-Hour Mental and Physical Challenge Slated for June 25-27 in Pittsfield, VT
Spartan Death Race Stakes Claim as THE True Test of Survival
Total of $300,000 on Line for Winners of Series Events
PITTSFIELD, Vt., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Spartan Death Race in Pittsfield, VT, has thrown down the gauntlet to 20 winners of the reality television game show SURVIVOR.
Any SURVIVOR winner who enters and by chance wins Spartan Death Race www.youmaydie.com, a multiple-hurdles and challenges-driven mental and physical test of pain thresholds and wills, will walk with $100,000 for enduring up to 72 hours of what previous competitors call "hell."
Another $100,000 wad on this year's Spartan Death Race table goes to anyone winning six different Peak Races (including Spartan Death Race) www.peakraces.com. Peak Races www.peakraces.com includes, among others, a 100-mile snowshoe race in March and a 500-mile ultra run.
A third $100,000 goes to the winner of the entire 2011 Spartan Race (domestic US) series www.spartanrace.com beginning in southern California in February.
Joe DeSena, Spartan Death Race creator, bets that the 20 previous winners of the popular television show SURVIVOR don't have the physical and mental toughness to complete the challenge that begins June 25, 2011 in Pittsfield, VT.
"Compared to Spartan Death Race, their TV show escapades are a Caribbean vacation," said DeSena. "They claim to be survivors; I'll believe it when I see one of them survive the physical and mental challenges we put our competitors through. In fact, I'll even pay their entry fee ($400) if they have the nerve to give it a try."
DeSena is staking a $100,000 reward if any of the following 20 Survivor winners can complete the course: Richard Hatch, Tina Wesson, Ethan Zohn, Vecepia Towery, Brian Heidik, Jenna Moresca, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Amber Brkich, Chris Daugherty, Tom Westman, Danni Boatwright, Aras Baskausas, Yul Kwon, Earl Cole, Todd Herzog, Parvati Shallow, Bob Crowley J.T. Jr., Natalie White and Jud "Fabio" Birza.
Since 2008 fewer than 50 of 500 contestants have completed the race that wreaks havoc and eliminates those insane enough to attempt it. This race is peerless in its demands as each entrant faces up to 72 hours of debilitating physical burdens coupled with taxing and stressful mental hurdles. The most grueling part is that challenges are kept secret so competitors have no idea what is next and no idea when the event ends.
"We've devised the toughest race in the world where everything that can go wrong will," said Andy Weinberg, race director. "The Spartan Death Race is not for the weak of body, heart or spirit. All participants must clearly sign a waiver that states in no uncertain terms: 'I may die.'"
The race begins at 4 a.m. June 26 from race headquarters at Amee Farm on Rt. 100 in Pittsfield. Only 20 of 150 finished the 2010 event.
