Over 60% of European consumers claim a smartphone kit will be important when deciding to buy their next car...
With Nokia proposing its Terminal Mode in-car smartphone integration solution as an industry standard for the next generation of mobile devices and in-car systems, one question repeatedly asked by SBD clients is whether or not they should implement it in their vehicles. An important factor that will influence this decision is the consumer attitude towards in-car integration of their smartphones and the features offered.
Vehicle manufacturers will soon have to decide whether to adopt Terminal Mode or to use an alternative in-car integration solution. With the ever increasing popularity of smartphone apps, the evolution to in-car apps could be the next cutting edge technology for the tech savvy consumer.
In response to these developments SBD has conducted a European end-user survey of Nokia smartphone owners with navigation (OVI maps), helping our clients to better understand consumer attitudes towards of apps usage and interest for smartphone screen duplication in the car.
This survey will help you:
-Understand how European consumers react to app-based infotainment systems
- Learn how much consumers are willing to pay for smartphone integration in the car
- Develop the right strategies based on actual consumer feedback
- Reduce the risk of launching the wrong products in this rapidly evolving market
Survey Aims
-Evaluate the usage of and satisfaction with Nokia's free OVI Maps navigation app
- Evaluate the interest in and usage of other apps whilst driving
- Evaluate attitudes towards smartphone integration in the car
Survey Methodology
The survey was conducted in October 2010 based on the following criteria:
- Internet-based survey of 600 respondents (150 each in France, Germany, Italy and the UK)
- Owners of Nokia smartphones using OVI Maps and planning to buy a car in the next 12 months
