Sundyne Breaks Ground On New Manufacturing Facility
ARVADA, Colo., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundyne Corporation, a subsidiary of Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, broke ground on a new manufacturing building expansion at its Arvada, Colo. headquarters. This added capacity will give Sundyne a new level of flexibility as it faces heightened demand and an increasing number of orders for its innovative fluid handling technologies. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
With 2012 marking the 50th anniversary of the first Sundyne integrally geared pump, this development signifies a renewed investment in the future of the company, as it positions itself to take advantage of emerging markets and prepares to introduce new products over the coming years. The mayor of Arvada, the Honorable Marc Williams, attended the event and spoke about the importance of Sundyne, an international manufacturer and exporter of heavy-duty pumps and compressors to the local community. Sundyne is the largest private employer in the city of Arvada. In addition to the mayor, the ground breaking was attended by members of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, over 200 Sundyne employees and the senior management team.
"Our rapid sales growth has necessitated the expansion of the facilities here at our corporate headquarters," said Sundyne President Jeff Wiemelt. "The added capacity this expansion provides will help us meet the demands of our customers around the world while leveraging our highly skilled and educated work force here in Colorado."
The new building will take three months to become operational and will initially function as a materials warehouse – storing stock and staging equipment for manufacturing projects. The added capacity will help Sundyne evolve with aggressive lean manufacturing programs.
