Stryker Orthopaedics Rounds Out 2015 Season At SAS Championship
MAHWAH, N.J., Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- "Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour", Stryker Orthopaedics heads to Cary, NC this week for the final stop of 2015. Marking the tournament's 15th anniversary and known as one of the best events on Tour for players, patrons and partners, Stryker is pleased to bring the Stryker Mobility Zone to SAS Championship, located at Prestonwood Country Club, to close out the year.
"We've had another successful season and are very pleased with the results that we've seen in the two years of our relationship with the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour," says Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. "We've been afforded the opportunity to reach golf fans around the country in a unique setting, while educating them on the importance of mobility and keeping joints healthy."
Designed as a premiere on-site destination to educate golf fans on the importance of joint health, the Stryker Mobility Zone can be found in SAS Championship Exhibitor Area and features the following:
- The Mako System, the robotic-arm assisted technology that is changing the way joint replacement surgery is performed, on display throughout the weekend
- Interactive photo booth for fans to share highlights of their tournament experience on social media
- Pedometer giveaway for fans to track their steps and mobility throughout the course
- On-site local orthopedic surgeons to provide fans with joint health assessments and additional education on Stryker products
- Meet and greet opportunities with Champions Tour golfers, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton
- Stryker hats for sale to benefit Fisher House Foundation in support of our military
Stryker recognizes fan enthusiasm for SAS Championship and has dedicated efforts to enhance the experience of tournament goers. While onsite, Stryker will engage with golf fans with entertaining initiatives, while providing the opportunity for them to learn about Stryker hip and knee products and how they may help patients return to their everyday activities post-surgery. Additionally, the company will be hosting the Stryker Health Walk, highlighting 7-10 health facts and tips along the course for fans to follow as they watch a round of golf.
As an additional part of the company's commitment to the sport, Stryker Orthopaedics has continued its sponsor relationships with Champions Tour professionals, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton.
"It's been so rewarding to hear stories from fans when I stop by the Stryker Mobility Zone. I'm able to share my experiences of joint replacement with them and explain how Stryker has truly helped me get back to playing golf at a professional level," says brand ambassador and GetAroundKnee recipient, Fred Funk.
Funk, a Stryker brand ambassador since 2011, is one of the most recognizable names and personalities in professional golf. During his career, which spans more than 20 years, Funk has won eight titles on the PGA TOUR, including THE PLAYERS Championship 2005, and six titles on the Champions Tour, including the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. Funk underwent total knee replacement in November 2009 and received Stryker's GetAroundKnee. He won the 2010 JELD-WEN Tradition the following season, becoming the first player ever to win a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event after total knee replacement surgery.
"It's been incredible to see the company being so innovative, both on and off the course," said brand ambassador and two-time hip replacement recipient, Hal Sutton. "From advances in technology such as the Mako System, to activations on the golf course such as the Health Walk, I've seen Stryker's activation evolve and show true dedication to promoting mobility and joint health."
Sutton, whose 14 PGA TOUR victories include the 1983 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 1983 and 2000, has been a Stryker brand ambassador since 2013. In 2012, at age 54, after speaking with his doctor and learning about the differences in hip replacements, Sutton made the decision to undergo a total left hip replacement and received Stryker's Mobile Bearing Hip™. One year later, he received a matching Stryker Mobile Bearing Hip on the right side.
