Stryker Mobility Zone Makes First 2015 Champions Tour Stop At Ace Group Classic
Company Debuts Stryker Health Walk in Effort to Promote Active Lifestyle
MAHWAH, N.J., Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics, the Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour, makes its first stop along the 2015 Champions Tour this weekend at the ACE Group Classic in Naples, FL. In the second year of its relationship with the Champions Tour, Stryker will continue to reinforce its commitment to the health and well-being of joint pain sufferers through its on-site activation, the Stryker Mobility Zone – a destination designed to educate golf fans on the importance of joint health.
To kick off year two, in addition to featuring the Stryker Mobility Zone, Stryker will host its first-ever Stryker Health Walk. The Health Walk highlights 7-10 health facts and tips along the golf course for fans to follow as they watch a round of golf. This will be an ongoing initiative activated at key Champions Tour events in which Stryker will have an on-site presence.
"We wanted to extend the fan experience beyond the Stryker Mobility Zone by giving fans the opportunity to realize that something as simple as walking can lead to a healthier lifestyle," said Bill Huffnagle, President, Reconstructive Division, Stryker. "We hope that by sharing interesting health facts along the course, we will inspire fans to take the first step to becoming more active."
As part of the Stryker Health Walk, pedometers will be distributed at the Stryker Mobility Zone, located adjacent to the driving range, as an added incentive for fan participation. Additional elements of the Stryker Mobility Zone include:
- Mako – Stryker's robotic-arm-assisted technology – and how it's changing the way joint replacement is performed
- Interactive photo booth for fans to share highlights of their tournament experience
- On-site local orthopedic surgeons to provide fans with joint health assessments and additional education
- Meet and greet opportunities with Champions Tour Golfer and Stryker Brand Ambassador, Hal Sutton
Sutton will stop by the Stryker Mobility Zone for meet and greet opportunities with fans in attendance.
"It's always great having the opportunity to interact with fans at the Stryker Mobility Zone and tell them my personal story of joint replacement," said Hal Sutton, golfer and brand ambassador who has recorded one top 10 finish and six top 25 finishes since returning to Champions Tour in 2012.
Sutton, whose 14 PGA TOUR victories include the 1983 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 1983 and 2000, has been a Stryker brand ambassador since 2013. In 2012, at age 54, after speaking with his doctor and learning about the differences in hip replacements, Sutton made the decision to undergo a total hip replacement of his left hip and received Stryker's Mobile Bearing Hip™. One year later, he received a matching Stryker Mobile Bearing Hip on the right side.
