MAHWAH, N.J., July 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Stryker Orthopaedics announces its eighth tournament stop of 2016 at the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open. Beginning on Thursday, the company will bring the Stryker Mobility Zone, the premiere on-site activation, to En-Joie Golf Course - located in the heart of the Susquehanna River Valley. Through the Stryker Mobility Zone, Stryker will continue its efforts to enhance the golf fan experience by educating tournament goers on the importance of joint health through engaging and interactive initiatives.
As the Official Joint Replacement Products of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, Stryker is committed to promoting joint health through the Stryker Challenge – a collection of golf-related activities located within the Stryker Mobility Zone. The Stryker Challenge allows each participant to test their own joint health and mobility and fans also have the opportunity to win a trip for two to TPC® Sawgrass to play alongside former PLAYERS Championship winners and longtime Stryker ambassadors, Fred Funk and Hal Sutton. 1, 2
"Over the years I've become a walking, talking ambassador for the Stryker brand," said professional golfer and Stryker GetAroundKnee® recipient, Fred Funk. "I am always thrilled to meet and interact with fans to talk about my experience undergoing knee replacement surgery, recovering from it and returning to my day-to-day activities."
Fans attending the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open this week will also have the opportunity to show their support for the military. Within the Stryker Mobility Zone, the company will be offering hats for sale to benefit K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service canines to military veterans suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury or other military trauma as a result of military service post 9/11.
Finally, to further demonstrate its commitment to motivating fans to stay active, the company will be hosting the Stryker Health Walk throughout the tournament. The Health Walk highlights joint health facts and tips along the course to educate fans as they follow their favorite golfers.
Funk, a Stryker brand ambassador since 2011, is one of the most recognizable names and personalities in professional golf. During his career, which spans more than 20 years, Funk has won eight titles on the PGA TOUR, including THE PLAYERS Championship 2005, and six titles on PGA TOUR Champions, including the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. Funk underwent total knee replacement in November 2009 and received Stryker's GetAroundKnee. He won the 2010 JELD-WEN Tradition the following season, becoming the first player ever to win a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event after total knee replacement surgery.
