Strata Solar celebrates $1 billion of investment in North Carolina
Governor Pat McCrory, district legislators, solar farm land owners and industry representatives meet in Sampson County
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Strata Solar, one of America's leading turnkey solar providers, has recently surpassed the $ 1 Billion dollar mark in project investment in North Carolina. The company is headquartered in Chapel Hill and has over 65 solar facilities in 40 counties across the state. Founded in 2009, Strata Solar has brought 350 Megawatts of solar energy online and has helped North Carolina become the third largest state in the nation in regards to solar installations.
On Thursday, October 9th, Strata staff, elected officials, solar industry advocates and land owners gathered at a Strata solar farm to celebrate the investment. The guests were given a tour of the facility and then gathered to listen to a few words of reflection on this momentous milestone.

Among the keynote speakers were Governor Pat McCrory, Rep. William Brisson and Senator Brent Jackson. The event took place at the Anderson Solar Facility in Roseboro, NC which is the political district for both Rep. Brisson and Sen. Jackson. The speakers reflected on the overall importance of the solar industry, the positive impact it has had on employment, the importance of both the local investment and the environmental benefits.

According to Wilhelm, his company has provided employment to 2000 workers during the last 5 years, including veterans and minority groups.

Strata Solar currently has 12 projects under construction and is forecasting to achieve its second billion dollars invested in solar projects before the end of 2016.
