Stoltenberg Future Fund Scholarship Awarded to CIO at Texas-Based Brooke Army Medical Center
Company supports continuing education for CIOs through annual CHIME scholarship
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Stoltenberg Consulting Inc., a leading healthcare information technology consulting firm, announced today that David Broyhill, CIO of Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is the recipient of a $2,500 Stoltenberg Future Fund Scholarship. The scholarship is applied towards secondary education earned at the annual College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Fall CIO Forum in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This scholarship is the fifth awarded by the Stoltenberg Future Fund program since its inception in 2009. Stoltenberg has pledged a total of $50,000 to the CHIME Education Foundation over a span of 25 years.
"I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to Stoltenberg Consulting for making this scholarship possible," said Broyhill. "I believe that continuous learning is essential to our ability to innovate, improve ourselves, our organizations and our profession, as well as provide excellence in healthcare delivery. To pursue lifelong learning, healthcare IT leaders should engage in periodic assessments that take stock of competencies in critical healthcare IT management knowledge areas. This scholarship will afford me the opportunity to identify CHIME success factors in a supportive learning environment so I can continue to develop and ensure success as a CIO."
The Stoltenberg 25-Year Future Fund Scholarship awards $2,500 scholarships annually to the CHIME Education Foundation to be used for any of CHIME's educational events, including its Healthcare CIO Boot Camp, Fall CIO Forum, CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum and LEAD Forums. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be CHIME members in good standing, express a need for financial support for continuing education and describe their professional goals in the healthcare IT industry.
"As healthcare IT continues to evolve in response to new legislative requirements such as electronic medical records, meaningful use and ICD-10, it is important that the industry keep pace with this changing environment in order to best meet the needs of providers, payers and patients," said Sheri Stoltenberg, CEO, Stoltenberg Consulting. "By supporting continuing education, Stoltenberg can actively participate in helping industry leaders fully understand how to respond to these changes to ensure compliance within their organizations and work toward creating a healthcare system that is second to none."
Stoltenberg will also be sponsoring the CHIME Healthcare CIO Boot Camp closing reception. The two-and-a-half-day event is designed to educate healthcare IT professionals on the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful CIO. In addition, the company will sponsor the Women of CHIME Networking Event taking place on October 8.
"We are grateful to Stoltenberg Consulting for their continued financial support of the CIO community and participation in activities such as the Future Fund Scholarship," stated CHIME CEO and President Russell Brenzel. "It's companies like Stoltenberg that make it possible for CIOs to excel in their field and help drive positive and defining change within their respective organizations."
