STMicroelectronics Scales the Summit in EE Times' Top 10 Products of the Year
'Easy and Fun' Handheld Prototyping Tool for the STM32 Microcontroller at Number One in eeProductCenter's Top Products of 2009
GENEVA, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a world leader in microcontrollers, has topped the list of EE Times' top 10 products of 2009 with its innovative STM32 Primer2 handheld prototyping device, which enables product developers to easily access the power of ST's advanced 32-bit STM32 ARM Cortex-M3 based microcontroller. The STM32 Primer2, and other products in the top 10, gained entry to the list based on the volume of 'click-throughs' recorded at EE Times' EE Product Center.
Launched in February 2009, ST's STM32 Primer2 comes in a cellphone-like form factor and provides a color touchscreen, powerful audio features, and more, to enable the rapid design of attractive-looking demonstrator products. Using the STM32 Primer2, users can present a high-quality prototype, rather than a conventional engineering development board, to create a better first impression with minimal design-start investment.
"We are very proud of this achievement," said Dominique Jugnon, Development Tools Manager in ST's Microcontroller Division. "We believe it to be a demonstration of the success of ST's leading-edge STM32 microcontroller, in combination with the popular appeal of a handheld prototyping device that provides even more fun for engineers in embedded design."
In addition to a 128x160-pixel color touchscreen, a joystick/push button, extension connector and pre-loaded sample applications, the STM32 Primer2 also offers a built-in USB port, a MicroSD card slot, and other features, such as an accelerometer and an infrared transmitter/receiver, allowing users to quickly add numerous extra capabilities and functions to their applications.
STM32 developers can also receive support from a dedicated web site (www.stm32circle.com), which has more than 11,000 registered users and provides technical resources, design-sharing opportunities and discussion forums.
The STM32 Primer2 is in production, and is available from all ST distributors at a recommended price of $49 each.
