Stio Roofing & Construction Glad to Help in Wadena
WADENA, Minn., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- As of noon last Thursday, Stio Roofing & Construction had tarped about 30 storm damaged homes in Wadena. The Twin Cities based company brought its crews to the area last Friday and has been doing whatever it can to help free of charge. "Tarping seemed to be the most immediate need," company owner CJ deStefano said, "and being professional roofers our guys know how to tarp, so we figured the best way to use our skills was to do tarping for anyone who needed it."
This is not the first time Stio Roofing & Construction has helped out and given back. The company has twice been invited to participate in projects done by the popular TV show, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," once in August of 2007, and a second time in October of 2009. When asked about those projects deStefano said, "First of all, let me be clear, we are not 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,' we are Stio Roofing & Construction and those are two separate things. We merely participated in those shows with a lot of other people, and we were honored to be invited. But those experiences meant so much to us, and our guys, that they opened our eyes to how important it is to give back, and we've been trying to do more and more of that ever since. That's why we're here in Wadena. There are a lot of good people helping out here, from the police, sheriff and firemen to the folks bringing clean water and sandwiches. The volunteers are amazing, and we're just trying to do our part."
Willy Hendrickson, a Stio employee doing the free tarping said, "If what happened to these folks happened to me and my family I wouldn't know what to do. It's only a band aid, but I hope putting up tarp helps them out a little bit."
