Stephanie's on Newbury Chef Corey Comeau Wins Food Network's 'Chopped'
BOSTON, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Corey Comeau, Executive Chef of Boston's original sophisticated comfort food restaurants Stephanie's on Newbury (www.stephaniesonnewbury.com) and Stephi's on Tremont (www.stephisontremont.com), went head-to-head with his competitors and emerged victorious to win the $10,000 grand prize on the hit Food Network show, "Chopped" this evening.
In the "Octopus Attack!" episode that aired on Tuesday, October 12 at 10 PM ET, Corey had just 20 minutes to cook everyone's favorite cephalopod. His Grilled Octopus and Traviso Salad passed muster with judges Alex Guarnaschelli, Aaron Sanchez, and Marc Murphy in the first round. He then took a meat and potatoes approach to the Entree Round challenge with his Grilled Marinated Flank Steak with Pepino Melon Barbeque Sauce and Granola Potato Pancakes. And when Japan met Greece in the final Dessert Round, Corey's sweet surprise Feta Cheese and Shiso Leaf Custard with Grilled Pita chips and Gran Marnier-scented Adzuki Beans clinched the title for him.
"Competing on Chopped was an unbelievably unique experience; it truly put my skills to the test. And whether I'd won or lost I'm now a better chef for having done it," said Corey Comeau, Executive Chef of Stephanie's on Newbury and Stephi's on Tremont. "It was a total thrill to win and I'm taking my wife to New Zealand to celebrate!"
"We're absolutely delighted with Corey's triumph on Chopped," said Stephanie Sokolove Chef and Owner of Stephanie's on Newbury and Stephi's on Tremont. "With his skills, culinary creativity and expertise in bringing the best in sophisticated comfort food to Boston food lovers, there was never any doubt in my mind that he'd take the top prize."
