USW District 2 Director Michael Bolton said that the union wholeheartedly supports Geenen's candidacy because Wisconsin's working families need a strong voice in the state legislature now more than ever.
"We could not have found a better representative and advocate than our own member, Sara Geenen," Bolton said. "She has proven her commitment and willingness to stand up and fight for Wisconsin's working people and their communities."
Bolton said that Geenen will serve her district and all of Wisconsin well if elected.
"She has stood with workers and retirees to preserve health insurance and pensions when their employers have gone bankrupt," Bolton said, "and she will fight to protect workers against discrimination and injustice in Wisconsin's workplaces."
USW District 2 is based in Menasha and represents about 60,000 steelworkers in Wisconsin and Michigan. Overall, the USW represents some 850,000 men and women employed in metals, mining, pulp and paper, rubber, chemicals, glass, auto supply and the energy-producing industries, along with a growing number of workers in public sector and service occupations.
