STD Med Changes Name To Primo Medical Group

STOUGHTON, Mass., Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Primo Medical Group Inc. announced today that it has completed its corporate name change from STD Med Inc. The new name reflects the company's continued evolution into a Medical Device incubator, an established leader in the design and manufacture of medical devices and also honors its founder – Primo Tallarida.

"After 60 years of business we have made the decision to rename our company," announced company CEO Steve Tallarida.  "Although this decision has been pondered for years, we were waiting for the appropriate time to make this transition.  Primo Tallarida was very proud of the company he originally founded as Stoughton Tool & Die. Primo Medical Group will continue to offer the most comprehensive outsourcing solutions to the medical device market, including OEM product distribution services, engineering services, precision component production, finished goods assembly, medical device refurbishment, reusable surgical kit management and complete supply chain management.

Over the past 15 years Primo Medical Group has incubated and invested in several new technologies including Angiolink Corporation (acquired by Medtronic), Arthrosurface Inc., Spirus Medical, Inc. (acquired by Olympus), Cardiosolutions, Inc., and Saphena Medical Inc.  The company will continue to pursue disruptive innovation in the medical device marketplace. In 2015 Primo Medical Group will launch Versago Vascular Access Inc., which is developing a revolutionary technology to improve vascular access for hemodialysis and oncology patients.
