Starship Singer Heads Next myRecordFantasy Event
All-Star Cast to Support Mickey Thomas at Oct. 18-20th Extravaganza
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- With one myRecordFantasy chapter in the books, momentum continues to build for Gigatone Entertainment's follow-up in October when Starship frontman Mickey Thomas will host the three-day event for fans at Sacramento's Track Shack Studios.
Thomas follows the overwhelmingly successful myRecordFantasy debut in August hosted by former Monkee Micky Dolenz. He's the voice behind Starship's hits, including Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers "Sara," "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" in addition to Top 40 classics "Find Your Way Back," "Jane" and "No Way Out." Thomas also supplied lead vocals to Elvin Bishop's No. 3 masterpiece "Fooled Around and Fell in Love."
Thomas will be giving fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on his new record. He'll stage nightly jam sessions with fans and a VIP-only closing concert with All-Star support from fellow artists appearing at the Oct. 18-20 event. Confirmed to join Thomas are Leif Garrett, Bobby Kimball (lead singer, Toto), Jimi Jamison (lead singer, Survivor), Mike Reno (lead singer, Loverboy), Alex Ligertwood (lead singer, Santana), Cory Lerios and Dave Jenkins (Pablo Cruise), Skip Martin (The Dazz Band) and Power Pop pioneer Dwight Twilley.
Collectively, October myRecordFantasy artists lay claim to nine Top 10 albums on Billboard's Top 200 charts and five No. 1 singles. They've been involved in a whopping 94 Billboard Hot 100 singles and in 1982 alone garnered five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year (Toto's "Rosanna"), Album of the Year (Toto IV), Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger"), and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (The Dazz Band's "Let It Whip").
As with the Dolenz event, fans will audition to perform on and be credited as an Executive Producer on Thomas' new album. The entire myRecordFantasy extravaganza including on location events will be filmed in high definition, with webisodes airing on YouTube. Gigatone Entertainment is a next generation entertainment company based in Sacramento and Hollywood founded by Grammy Governor Mitchell Koulouris. Following Thomas, Gigatone will stage its next myRecordFantasy event with iconic recording artist/producer Todd Rundgren January 17-20, 2011.
