SYDNEY, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, today announced that Star Track Express, an Australian logistics and transport provider, will enhance its operational and analytical capabilities following a significant overhaul of its information architecture by implementing a Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform.

The Teradata solution will help Star Track Express overcome the challenges of managing isolated and limited sources of information about company operations currently based in a SQL Server Database environment, by bringing all data sources into a single and integrated view of corporate information.
Jointly owned by iconic Australian companies Qantas and Australia Post, Star Track Express has experienced rapid growth over the past 30 years by offering a superior high-speed service for the lowest possible cost. Over the past five years, the company has invested AUD$200 million in the development of its infrastructure and equipment, ensuring an increasing lead over its competitors.
Derek Lightfoot, chief executive officer, Star Track Express, said, "Star Track Express has a long history of industry leadership in technological innovation. We have developed one of the world's smartest and most advanced delivery and freight management systems, and now with Teradata as the cornerstone of this significant information systems project, we will be able to further extend that leadership."
"With Teradata we will migrate towards an even stronger customer-centric view of our business and we will now have a single view of our enterprise information, allowing better decision making. This will also enable and support the introduction of a range of new services and capabilities for our customers, including advanced track and trace," Lightfoot said.
"Teradata has vast experience working with many of the world's top transportation and logistics providers and we are very excited to bring this experience to the table for Star Track Express in Australia," said Alec Gardner, industry consultant director, Teradata. "The transport and logistics industry here in Australia and right around the world is under immense pressure to evolve and become more customer-oriented, while keeping their costs as low as possible. It is the providers, such as Star Track Express, that will leapfrog their competition by investing in advanced business intelligence and active data warehousing to make better and faster decisions."
Teradata's Business Consulting team will work closely with Star Track Express to implement the new architecture over the next six months.
Sitting at the center of the new information architecture will be a new Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform which will deliver real-time intelligence and puts vital information into the hands of Star Track Express's front-line decision makers for faster and more informed tactical decision making.
Star Track Express will also implement the Teradata Transportation and Logistics Logical Data Model, which provides a tailored business intelligence framework that has been developed by Teradata through extensive consultation with the global transportation and logistics industries. The Teradata-based framework will bring together key information from every area of Star Track Express's business, including customers, channels, products and operations to provide a single, enterprise-wide view of its data.
