"Latinos are quickly becoming the new face of entrepreneurship in the USA," said Remy Arteaga, the Executive Director of LBAN. "Several studies, including one by the Kauffman Foundation, support the fact that Latinos are creating more new businesses than any other group in America. We want to empower these entrepreneurs to grow large businesses."
Eighty Latino entrepreneurs from across the United States will be selected to become part of this program. For six weeks, the entrepreneurs will take a customized online course based on curriculum developed by two Stanford Professors, Huggy Rao and Bob Sutton, who are internationally recognized as experts in scaling businesses.
The online course, entitled "Scaling Excellence Through Innovation", speaks directly to the scaling challenge that research has highlighted as the key to the success of Latino Owned Businesses. The course has been customized to address the unique challenges Latino entrepreneurs might face in scaling their business by including interviews with Role Models who have successfully scaled their companies and by providing webinars focused on the process of securing capital. In addition to the customized curriculum, participants will be paired with a mentor, who they will interact with on a regular basis.
Applications are due by April 15. The program will officially kickoff on June 4 at Stanford University with an event that will bring together the Latino entrepreneurs. At the end of the program, the 80 participants will participate in conversations with representatives from the venture capital, banking, angel investing and debt equity industries.
