Sport-&-Health Boasts Energy Fitness At New Location
ROCKVILLE, Md., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In addition to meeting the physical fitness demands of today's club member, the opening of Sport-&-Health's newest location, a 32,000 square foot, three-level facility located in the Pike & Rose development in Rockville, MD is also meeting the demand for responsible energy usage. The company hired Recurrent, LLC to design and install a fully integrated automation system for the club. Alongside state of the art equipment and luxurious aesthetics, the new Building Automation System will continuously monitor all operating equipment parameters to ensure that space conditions stay within the required comfort ranges, and in an efficient manner.
Fully integrated equipment includes 15 air handling units, chilled water system, outside air/exhaust system, domestic hot water system and lighting, all using Tridium Niagara AX on the front-end and Johnson Control Facility Explorer unit controllers.
Recurrent's Remote Operations Center (RENOC) is immediately alerted to any malfunctions or space condition anomalies. This includes space temperature, space humidity and space CO2 levels. Remote techs are able to assess the situation and equipment variables, immediately alerting the club staff and field techs of condition anomalies, and often times can remedy the issue before members even notice a change.
Recurrent's Director of Building Automation Systems, Ryan Fauquier, says, "Sport-&-Health's commitment to energy and operational efficiency has been taken to the next level at their new Rockville club. The installed building controls systems allow full control of nearly every aspect of the club from lighting, HVAC, hot water and space scheduling. This system goes beyond standard temperature control, with the ability to detect fluctuations in occupancy through motion, humidity, and carbon dioxide sensors, and make real-time adjustments that will keep club members comfortable."
Sport-&-Health's Vice President of Facilities, Chris Lopiccolo adds, "Installing an advanced control system at our newest club was an easy decision to make after the successes we've had at several of our other clubs. By utilizing Recurrent's Remote Network Operations Center, Recurrent technicians are able to identify and correct issues before anyone in the club notices a problem. This frees me up to do what's most important to me; focusing on the member experience."
