Special Forces Soldier and GORUCK CEO Jason McCarthy Joins Board of Directors at Green Beret Foundation

SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Green Beret Foundation is enthusiastic to announce that Jason McCarthy, Founder and CEO of GORUCK, has been appointed to the Green Beret Foundation's board of directors.

As a former Green Beret, Jason McCarthy is uniquely aware of the sacrifices made by Green Berets and their families. He expressed tremendous honor and humility upon accepting his new role with the Green Beret Foundation (GBF).

"I am who I am because of my time in Special Forces, so it's an honor to serve our Regiment as a board member for the Green Beret Foundation. My goals are to help aggressively expand fundraising opportunities while further explaining the vital importance of the Green Berets to a grateful American public," Jason said.

Jason is the Founder and CEO of GORUCK, a US-based gear manufacturing organization which leads more than 900 endurance events per year for civilians and combat veterans of Special Operations. "My goals with GORUCK are to (1) serve as a voice for good, (2) employ more Veterans of Special Operations than any organization outside the US military, and (3) build a bridge between the military and civilian worlds." 

Jason holds a B.A. in Economics from Emory University where he was Phi Beta Kappa and an MBA from Georgetown University where he was a John F. Connelly Scholar. He is a 2006 Graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course and recipient of a Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device earned while serving on ODA 042 during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.

Jason has supported GBF since inception by raising several hundreds of thousands of dollars for the foundation and every year graciously donates GORUCK GR1s for the foundation's Casualty Support Program.
