Space Needle Presents the 30th annual New Year's at the Needle; T-Mobile is Exclusive Sponsor for Seattle's Biggest Celebration
SEATTLE, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Space Needle plans to celebrate the New Year with its 30th annual fireworks spectacular. For the second time, hometown partner T-Mobile, America's "Uncarrier", headquartered in Bellevue, WA, is the exclusive title sponsor of the west coast anchor year-end event. T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle marks three decades of Seattle's growth and prosperity on the world scene for our proud residents.
"T-Mobile brings a special hometown element to its exclusive sponsorship of New Year's at the Needle," said Jeff Wright, Chairman of the Board, Space Needle LLC. "Both of us have deep roots in the community. We share a firm commitment to the local area and are honored to throw this party for our city. T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle belongs to Seattle."
T-Mobile again joins Seattle's own listener-supported radio station, KEXP 90.3 FM for the most recognized fireworks spectacle in the Pacific Time Zone. The Space Needle will be illuminated in T-Mobile's distinctive magenta brand color on Dec. 30 - Dec. 31 as a precursor to the New Year's Eve festivities. Pyro Spectaculars, global fireworks experts for over 100 years, will design and coordinate the midnight extravaganza, one of the world's largest structure-launched fireworks displays. Pyrotechnics will illuminate the entire Space Needle top to bottom. Gala New Year's Eve parties are being held on the Observation Deck and at the SkyCity restaurant with tickets on sale now.
"It's an amazing honor and an absolute blast being part of the West Coast's premier New Year's bash for the second year in a row," said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. "Anyone who knows T-Mobile, knows we can't resist a good party. But the truth is we just love seeing that Space Needle all lit up in magenta – that is a thing of beauty!"
More than 20,000 people are expected to gather below the Space Needle and around the Seattle Center campus to take in "T-Mobile New Year's at the Needle". The entire Seattle Center campus will be one big party with thousands of free giveaways from T-Mobile as all the revelers watch the amazing pyrotechnic effects being fired from 72 different locations on the iconic landmark. An estimated 400,000 will view the show from surrounding neighborhoods, along with another half-million tuning-in from home.
- KING 5 Television will feature exclusive live broadcast coverage beginning at 11:35 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The eight-minute fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31.
