NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Indices will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices:
- S&P MidCap 400 constituent AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: AGL) will replace Nicor Inc. (NYSE: GAS) in the S&P 500 index, S&P SmallCap 600 constituent HSN Inc. (NASD: HSNI) will replace AGL Resources in the S&P MidCap 400 index, and EnerSys (NYSE:ENS) will replace HSN in the S&P SmallCap 600 index after the close of trading on Monday, December 12. AGL Resources is acquiring Nicor in a deal expected to be completed before that date, pending final conditions.
- To ensure each index more appropriately represents its market capitalization range, S&P will make the following index adjustments effective after the close of trading on Friday, December 16:
S&P MidCap 400 constituent BorgWarner Inc. (NYSE: BWA) will replace AK Steel Holding Corp. (NYSE: AKS) in the S&P 500 index, AK Steel Holding will replace Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASD: REGN) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index, and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will replace BorgWarner in the S&P MidCap 400 index.
S&P MidCap 400 constituents Perrigo Co. (NASD: PRGO) and Dollar Tree Inc. (NASD: DLTR) will replace Monster Worldwide Inc. (NYSE: MWW) and MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (NYSE: WFR) in the S&P 500 index, and Monster Worldwide and MEMC Electronic Materials will replace Perrigo and Dollar Tree in the S&P MidCap 400 index.
S&P SmallCap 600 constituents HMS Holdings Corp. (NASD: HMSY), World Fuel Services Corp. (NYSE: INT) and CLARCOR Inc. (NYSE: CLC) will replace The Ryland Group Inc. (NYSE: RYL), Cousins Properties Inc. (NYSE: CUZ) and Career Education Corp. (NASD: CECO) in the S&P MidCap 400 index, and The Ryland Group, Cousins Properties and Career Education will replace HMS Holdings, World Fuel Services and CLARCOR in the S&P SmallCap 600 index.

HSN markets and sells a range of third party and private label merchandise. Headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Catalog Retail Sub-Industry index.
EnerSys manufactures, markets, and distributes industrial batteries. Headquartered in Reading, PA, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Electrical Components & Equipment Sub-Industry index.
BorgWarner engages in the manufacture and sale of engineered automotive systems and components. Headquartered in Auburn Hills, MI, the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS Auto Parts & Equipment Sub-Industry index.
AK Steel Holding produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, and tubular products. Headquartered in West Chester, OH, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Steel Sub-Industry index.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals discovers, develops, and commercializes pharmaceutical products. Headquartered in Tarrytown, NY, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Biotechnology Sub-Industry index.
Perrigo develops, manufactures, and distributes over-the-counter and generic prescription pharmaceuticals, infant formulas, nutritional products, and active pharmaceutical ingredients. Headquartered in Allegan, MI, the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS Pharmaceuticals Sub-Industry index.
Dollar Tree operates discount variety stores. Headquartered in Chesapeake, VA, the company will be added to the S&P 500 GICS General Merchandise Stores Sub-Industry index.

Cousins Properties, a real estate investment trust (REIT), owns, develops, and manages office and retail properties. Headquartered in St. Peters, MO, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Diversified REITs Sub-Industry index.
Career Education operates colleges, schools, and universities. Headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Education Services Sub-Industry index.
