SonicWALL Selected to Provide Secure Wi-Fi Coverage to ekoparty Security Conference in Argentina
Largest Security Conference in South America Standardizes on SonicWALL to Provide Wi-Fi Coverage to 2011 Ekoparty Attendees
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SonicWALL, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network security and data protection solutions, today announced, that for the second year in a row, it will provide secure and free Wi-Fi access for both organizers and attendees at the Electronic Knock Out Party ("ekoparty") security conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from September 21st to September 23rd. SonicWALL is also exhibiting at ekoparty.
The SonicWALL NSA 4500 and eight SonicPoints, including SonicPoint-N Dual-Radio, SonicPoint-Ne Dual Band and SonicPoint-Ni Dual-Band will be used during the security conference to provide attendees with easy and secure Internet access. SonicWALL Secure wireless security features include a full set of Wi-Fi protection capabilities to help protect conference attendees against Wi-Fi attacks.
"We are proud to be a gold sponsor of ekoparty and we're very pleased to provide the Wi-Fi infrastructure for the conference again this year," says Jean-Marc Catalaa, SonicWALL's regional manager for the Southern Cone. "While today's Wi-Fi systems can be vulnerable to RF jamming and denial-of-service attacks, the SonicWALL wireless security solution was built from the ground up with security in mind. It features many advanced ways to protect users against wireless hacking attempts. For example, the SonicWALL infrastructure automatically recognizes rogue Access Points posing as man-in-the-middle and then disarms them by constantly disconnecting associated wireless stations. This protection mechanism will prevent attendees from associating and communicating to the Internet through a hacker's computer."
The Electronic Knock Out Party ("ekoparty") is held annually in Buenos Aires since 2007. At the conference, security experts from around the world get together in a relaxed atmosphere to participate in hands-on workshops, attend and discuss presentations regarding Internet security, technical innovation, vulnerabilities and the latest tools. The event was originally held as an underground IT get-together by hackers but expanded to become the most important technical conference in Latin America.
A large, record attendance is expected this year. "We are expecting more than 1,000 attendees in 2011, representing an increase of over 20% from last year's 800 participants," says Jeronimo Basaldua, one of the five founders of the event. "Many attendees are young IT- and security experts. They need to be connected to the Internet in case they are needed for emergencies. We selected SonicWALL to provide Wi-Fi during the event because it adds solid security features to wireless connectivity. For example, all traffic is firewalled negating any communications between wireless guests. SonicWALL's appliances also process traffic with a full stateful and deep packet inspection engine, providing both security as well as traffic control, without slowing down the network."
