Soles4Souls, Inc. Invited to Present Its Plans for Haiti at Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Soles4Souls, Inc., the shoe charity dedicated to giving away free pairs of shoes to people in need, is in New York City presenting proposals for its aid efforts in Haiti. In addition to providing a free footwear and clothing resource for survivors of the Haitian earthquake on January 12, Soles4Souls is constructing homes and businesses using funds provided by its grassroots network of individual supporters and corporate partners.
"We are honored to have the opportunity to present our ideas at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI)," said Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. "We have been to Haiti several times and have seen first hand the horrible conditions in the tent cities in Port au Prince. Aid groups from all sectors should rise up and help alleviate the inhumane conditions. Time is running short and we are glad to have the opportunity to do something positive that will produce results."
The CGI Annual Meetings in New York (September 20-23) have brought together more than 125 current and former heads of state, 15 Nobel Peace Prize winners, hundreds of leading global CEOs, major philanthropists and foundation heads, directors of the most effective non-governmental organizations, and prominent members of the media. These CGI members have made nearly 1,700 commitments valued at $57 billion, which have already improved more than 220 million lives in 170 countries.
