First Solar, Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 26, 2014, First Solar, Inc. (First Solar) announced the receipt of board approval from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and IFC for financing to support construction of the 141MW(ac) Luz del Norte solar power plant in Chile's Atacama Desert. According to the Company, the OPIC board approved a loan of up to $230 million and the IFC board approved a loan of $60 million, although terms of the deals were not disclosed. Additionally, First Solar stated that the loans, expected to close later this summer, will clear the way for the Company to proceed with construction planning at the site near the city of Copiapo. First Solar Senior Vice President, Americas, Tim Rebhorn, commented, "The Latin American region has a growing need for innovative and efficient energy solutions right now. SunEdison, Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 19, 2014, SunEdison, Inc. (SunEdison) announced that the Company, along with BlueWave Capital, LLC (BlueWave), announced the Company's agreement to purchase 50 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects from BlueWave. According to SunEdison, the agreement marks the largest acquisition of solar assets in the history of Massachusetts. Additionally, the Company stated that the agreement includes twelve projects jointly developed by BlueWave and SunEdison across Massachusetts, expected to be operational by June 30, 2014. Commenting on the agreement, SunEdision Managing Director of Sales, Steve Raeder, said, "SunEdison's unparalleled financing capabilities coupled with BlueWave's development expertise have allowed us to fast-track these projects, which in turn has expedited the delivery of environmental and financial benefits to our customers and the communities that are hosting these solar facilities." Palo Alto Networks, Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 23, 2014, Palo Alto Networks, Inc. (Palo Alto Networks) announced the Company's intention to offer $500 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due in 2019, subject to market conditions and other factors. Additionally, the Company stated that it also expects to grant initial purchasers a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $75 million aggregate principal amount of the notes to cover any over-allotments. A portion of the net proceeds of the offering will be used by Palo Alto Networks to pay the cost of convertible note hedge transactions, with the remaining proceeds used for general corporate purposes, which may include working capital, capital expenditures, potential acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
