Society for Universal Sacred Music Presents 5th Festival of Universal Sacred Music on November 12 at Symphony Space in Manhattan
NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society for Universal Sacred Music, Harold Rosenbaum, Artistic Director, will present its 5th Festival of Universal Sacred Music on Saturday, November 12, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Peter Jay Sharpe Theatre of Symphony Space, Broadway and 95th Street in Manhattan. This will be a free, day-long festival produced by the Society, Roger Davidson, President, and co-sponsored by the United Nations Association.
Featured performers will be Anonymous 4 vocal ensemble; Indian classical singer and composer Deepak Kumar Pareek; The New York Virtuoso Singers, Harold Rosenbaum, Conductor, with James Adams on organ; The Riverside Inspirational Choir; Israeli singer Maya Raviv; The Canticum Novum Youth Choir, Edie Rosenbaum, Director; The Western Wind vocal ensemble; jazz singer Catherine Russell; pianist and composer Roger Davidson; chant singer David Newman and baritone Thomas McCargar with Brent Funderburk on piano, and the music of composer Sharon Farber with multi-instrumentalist Omar Faruk Tekbilek, percussionist David Kontesz and guitarist Fredy Schiftan as principal instrumentalists.
This will be in the style of the Wall to Wall events that Symphony Space presents each year. During the performances, the theater's inner lobby will feature a photography show about the nature of light by Aicha Skandrani, a Tunisian born artist who currently lives in France. The Riverkeeper organization will also be present at the event.
